Number 7: JO-BURG!!!

So, I am safely at Alabanza! This is my third full day here. A little update about what has happened so far. . .

Flights
At the airport in Minneapolis, I thought I saw Greg Garbowsky. The guy was dressed in a blazer and some jeans that looked like ones that Garbo has. His hair was EXACTLY the same: it was unreal! Right as I was about to say, "GARBO?" he turned around. It wasn't him. Sad day. . .I would've been pretty excited.
Nothing too exciting happened at Amsterdam. . .except for me almost not making the flight. I wasn't checked in and nobody was at the gate. There wasn't anyone that could tell me how to check in. I barely made it on. Praise the Lord that He got me on that flight!!

Alfie, the Kinsley's son, is still just as cute as ever!! He's so big though! I couldn't believe it when I saw him. He's four and a half now, for those that don't know. He's in school in Atterridgeville. It was so cute at the airport! Steve said something about Superman and Alfie said, "I'm Superman!" and then did his hands like Spiderman. I laughed pretty hard. Gotta get all the superheroes in at once, I guess!

Sunday we went to the church at Refilwe, a squatter camp. For anyone that went on the team in 2006, let me tell you! IT HAS CHANGED SO MUCH!! They filled in the pool and built a huge building over it. It's pretty nice. I'll get pictures later, I promise. Then after the 3 and a half hour service, we ate with some friends of the Kinsleys.

Last night we went to Acts Christian Church. It was pretty amazing. It's so diverse, and I love it! Heave is every tribe and every tongue, right? So why wait until Heaven to have that? On earth as it is in Heaven is what Christ prayed, is it not? Anyway, I won't rant on that now.

We're going back to Acts tonight. If you read this in the next few hours, pray that God will make himself known to me. I've been in a dry spell of sorts and it's hard to keep pressing on. Please pray that tonight (every day really) that I will continue to press into Him and draw near to His throne, even when it doesn't feel the way it sometimes does. Pray that I will trust and believe what I know over what I feel.

Also pray for the violence in South Africa. There've been outbreaks of killings and violence of all sorts in the townships. From what I know so far, its South Africans attacking Zimbabweans and vice versa. Pray for peace and restoration and freedom. Please pray that Mabelobi is safe enough for us to do camp there in a few weeks. Steve said that was where one of the first outbreaks occured.

That's all for now!! I love y'all!! ;)

Ha ha good ol' Acts Christian Church! I love that place it was a lot of fun! I'm glad that everything worked out as far as your flights. I forgot that the check in at Amsterdam is kind of goofy since it's an international flight. I knew refilwe had filled in the pool, but I didnt know they'd built over it.

I'm definitely praying for you!! Especially with the violence. I hope that whenever the other interns get there, that y'all get together great.

Not too much new here. Aunt Steph went home last night (Monday night), and I'm driving the Camry to work. The guy who lives across the street helped us get our mailbox fixed so i guess we now have a "Functional" mailbox.

Pass my hello's to Deanie and all the other Alabanzanites as well as the Kinsley's.

I LOVE YOU!

I'm excited for the update! Thanks for the status report. I know God wanted to start the trip with a miracle - you making all the connections to get there!

The dad in me is doing his best to put all his cares on the One responsible for your safety. It's hard to have my little girl on the other side of the world and not be anxious. My only way of dealing is knowing you ARE where HE wants you.

I will pray for the topics you mentioned. I will also - duh - be praying (without ceasing) for your safety. Beyond all that, I will continue to pray that God has his perfect work in you! While I know He has you in South Africa TO minister, I'm praying for your being ministered TO even more. I am confident that what He has in store for you while you're there and beyond will far surpass anything we can imagine right now.

I LOVE YOU!
Papa

Aly! So good to hear that you got there safe and sound, even after almost missing a flight! And I think you should have taken a picture with "Garbo" I would have laughed very hard if you had. Love you bunches!!

Hey Ang,
Good to hear you are safe. Remember the weapons of our warfare are mighty for casting down every stronghold. Especially dry spells. For he inhabits the praises of his people and has promised to do above all we can think or hope (Eph. 3:20) We are praying for you daily with Him who continously intercedes for us.
With much love Byron, Twylabeth, Alex & Grace
